Under Spanos’ direction, over the past several seasons, the organization has made significant investments in its gameday and training camp venues, team headquarters and in business personnel staffing. In 2017 alone, the Chargers secured space for both a new training camp site and a new practice facility in Costa Mesa.

The team’s training camp home, Jack Hammett Sports Complex, underwent extensive field modifications to bring it up to NFL standards. The field improvements, however, were not just for the Chargers – for the 10 months of the year when the Chargers aren’t utilizing the facility for training camp, it is available to be enjoyed by the entire community.

Additionally, extensive renovations went into the team’s new training facility, Hoag Performance Center. The contemporary facility, which continues to evolve and expand, provides the Chargers with the latest in technology and equipment while housing more than 150 full-time employees, not including players.

Since moving into Hoag Performance Center, A.G. Spanos has continued to operate with an eye towards the future – increasing the non-football headcount by over 30 employees and creating several key positions in areas such as fan experience, marketing, analytics, cultural affairs, human resources and digital media.

In 2017, on behalf of the Chargers and his family, A.G. Spanos oversaw a $500,000 donation to Hurricane Harvey relief efforts and corresponding food and supply drive prior to the team’s Week 1 contest at Denver. Not long after being recognized as Humanitarian Organization of the Year by the Red Cross, in November of 2018, the Chargers made yet another $250,000 donation in support of victims suffering from yet another devastating wildfire season.
