Angela Bishop OAM was born on September 6, 1967 (age 54 years) in Sydney, Australia. She is the daughter of former Australian politician Bronwyn Bishop and former NSW judge Alan Bishop.
Her mother Bronwyn Kathleen Bishop AO was born on 19 October 1942 in Australia. She was a member of federal parliament for almost 30 years, the longest period of service by a woman. A member of the Liberal Party, she was a minister in the Howard Government from 1996 to 2001 and Speaker of the House of Representatives from 2013 to 2015.

Bronwyn Bishop was born in Sydney and worked as a lawyer before entering politics. She served as state president of the New South Wales Liberals from 1985 to 1987, and then won election to the Senate at the 1987 federal election. She became the state’s second female senator and the first to be popularly elected. In 1994 Bishop switched to the House of Representatives, winning a by-election for the Division of Mackellar. She was a shadow minister under John Hewson, Alexander Downer, and John Howard.
In 1996 Bronwyn Bishop was appointed Minister for Defence Industry, Science and Personnel in the newly elected Howard Government. She was made Minister for Aged Care in 1998 but lost her place in the ministry after the 2001 election. Bishop returned to the shadow ministry after the Liberal-National Coalition lost the 2007 election.
In 2013, Bronwyn following the election of the Abbott Government, she was elected Speaker of the House, becoming the first non-Labor woman to hold the post. She resigned in mid-2015 after being caught in the center of a travel-expenses scandal and was defeated for Liberal preselection at the 2016 election, ending her parliamentary career. Her father Alan Bishop was a judge of the now-defunct Compensation Court and the District Court of New South Wales and was instrumental in the establishment of the WorkCover Authority of New South Wales.

Angela Bishop commenced her work at Network Ten in 1989. She is currently a co-host on the network’s morning program Studio 10. Bishop made two cameo appearances on the American soap opera The Bold and the Beautiful in 2017 and 2018 respectively.
Bishop was awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia in the 2021 Queen’s Birthday Honours, for “service to entertainment journalism”.

In July 2018, Senator David Leyonhjelm described Angela Bishop as a “bigoted bitch” on social media following a discussion on Studio 10 about Leyonhjelm’s behavior towards Senator Sarah Hanson-Young. Leyonhjelm subsequently appeared on the program but refused to publicly apologise to Bishop.

Angela Bishop was married to her longtime boyfriend Peter Baikie, they had their wedding in 2005 in a private ceremony. The couple had a daughter in 2007. In 2016 her husband Peter Baikie was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer. He died in 2017.
