Bernd Schiphorst was born on January 29, 1943 (age 80) in Oldenburg, Germany. He completed his Abitur at the Old High School in Oldenburg, after which he completed an editorial traineeship at the Nordwest-Zeitung in Oldenburg from 1962 to 1964.
