She is of Palestinian descent and is daughter of Maria Cleofe Salman and Jose Fazil Taleon.. Her grandfather, George Anton Salman, was a Palestinian-Arab who came to the Philippines after the Second World War. Her cousin is Jed Madela who was the first Filipino to win the World Championships of Performing Arts title.
