Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II’s memorial ceremony is conducted in Beirut

On September 15, 2022, the Reverend Imad Zoorob presided over the ceremony. Along with officials from the embassy, diplomats, members of the British community, and friends, Hamish Cowell, the British ambassador to Lebanon, also attended the ceremony.

The Lebanese government, the general people, and the British community all sent their sympathies and support in recent days.

The British Ambassador also expressed his thanks for the government’s proclamation of three days of national mourning.

The ambassador spoke during the memorial service:

The many sympathy notes have left my Embassy coworkers and I speechless and very moved. They demonstrate how much Her Majesty was revered and adored in Lebanon as well as the rest of the globe.

The Ambassador spoke to the gathering and said:

We gather here to mourn together and share our grief. But also to honour and commemorate a unique and extraordinary life…..
Queen Elizabeth II provided great service for a lifetime.

Her extraordinary commitment served as an example of unselfish service to all of us.

Hamish Cowell quoted His Majesty King Charles III as saying:

Queen Elizabeth led a full life, fulfilling her destiny and keeping her vow. Her departure is much lamented.

Hundreds of people have visited the Ambassador’s house, the British Embassy, and the National Library of Lebanon since Friday, September 9, to sign a book of condolences honouring Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

The Queen On Monday, September 19, a Committal Service will be held at St. George’s Chapel in Windsor after the Queen’s State Funeral in Westminster Abbey. Beginning at 12:30 p.m. Beirut time, the All Saints Anglican Episcopal Church in Beirut will stream the funeral live.
