Jaylen Marselles Brown was born on October 24, 1996 (age 25 years) in Marietta, Georgia, United States. He is the second of two children of Mechalle Brown and Marselles Brown. His father is Quenton M. Brown, a professional boxer, who is the 2016 WBU World Champion, the 2015 WBU C.A.M. Heavyweight Champion, and a member of the Hawaii State Boxing Commission Board.
