Kevin Costner is an American actor, producer, and film director. He has received two Academy Awards, two Golden Globe Awards, a Primetime Emmy Award, and two Screen Actors Guild Awards. He grew up in Compton, California along with his parents William Costner and Sharon Costner. He is the youngest of three boys, the second of whom died at birth. His mother, Sharon Rae (née Tedrick), was a welfare worker, and his father, William Costner, was an electrician and, later, a utility executive at Southern California Edison.
