Klaus Brüggemann was born in 1959 (age 65 years) in Witten, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany.
Career
Klaus Brüggemann initially trained as a chef from 1974 to 1977, followed by studies at theBerlinBusiness School from 1979 to 1982, where he obtained a degree in business administration. From 1985 to 1988 he was human resources director at Lufthansa, LSG Sky Chefs. From 1989 to 2003 he was CEO and shareholder of Comfort Plus Hotel GmbH & Co KG.
Brüggemann was elected to the supervisory board of Hertha BSC IN 2000. In 2003 Klaus Brüggemann switched to the sports industry and qualified as a sports manager and mental and personal trainer. From 2003 to 2005 he worked as a consultant for the boxing world champion Nicolai Value and the management of the Brazilian football player Ronaldinho.
In 2006, Brüggemann was operations manager at the FIFA World Cup in Berlin. From 2007 to 2011 he was an advisor to the DKB board and then, from 2011 until his termination agreement in April 2013, managing director and sports director of the then third division club SV Babelsberg. During his employment, he is said to have lost numerous sponsors of the club and increased the debt from 800,000 to 3.3 million euros.
A representation that Brüggemann publicly contradicted. During his time as managing director, he concluded a ten-year marketing contract with the sports marketing agency Sportsman Media Group, through which SV Babelsberg, which was under financial pressure, received a signing fee of 119,000 euros.
The contract provided for an exclusive search for sponsors, with a commission of up to 35 percent, by the agency for the club, even if, as with contract extensions from existing sponsors, the agency had not made its own contribution. The agency repeatedly described the terms of the contract as standard in the industry.
After Brüggemann’s departure, the Munich Higher Regional Court determined that the contract with the agency w as void because, at the time the contract was concluded, Brüggemann was neither a board member of the association nor authorized by the board to conclude it. The signing of the contract by the then club chairman was not recorded as sufficient. The club saw the contract as forcing it into a “one-sided profit transfer relationship ” to its detriment.
Since 2014, Klaus Brüggemann has been the managing partner of a state-recognized private school in the areas of health, sports, and massages. He runs an agency for sports consulting as well as fitness lounges and has worked as a consultant for various clubs abroad.
