A third suspect in the savage stabbing death of a man on a Brisbane street has been arrested while the search for the final suspect continues.
Thomas Myler, age 35, was trapped by police during a search at a Wellington Point residence on Friday night.
It is believed that the Skinner Avenue residence was raided by specialised police teams and the dog squad.
A number of other residents of the home are also being questioned.
Myler has been on the run for four days and is the third man to be arrested in connection with Monday’s deadly stabbing of Levi Johnson outside a gym parking lot in the southern suburb of Mansfield.
Two vehicles surrounded his car before four guys out and began shattering his windows. Mr. Johnson fled, but two men captured him nearby and stabbed him many times.
The search for 24-year-old Kyle Martin continues, with authorities requesting his surrender.
Detective Superintendent Andrew Massingham had previously told reporters, “It certainly is something that was ferocious, it happened extremely quickly and they were indeed passionate about completing their task.”
National police services were alerted of arrest warrants, and Queensland Police say that Myler and Martin were members of the 13 Kings gang during the incident.
Police revealed CCTV video of Martin visiting the Carindale retail centre before to the incident on Friday.”
“We say that the four individuals met at a location nearby, that they observed the victim, Mr Johnson, for some time, waited for him to depart a particular location and then follow him where they eventually cornered him in the car park of the gym at Mansfield or Carindale,” Det Supt Massingham said.
Monday between 12.30pm and 2.10pm, anybody having dashcam video from the Creek Road parking lot is urged to contact the police.
They are also seeking dashcam video from the Winstanley Street parking lot between 11:05 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.
Det. Supt. Massingham added, “This is a significant strategy that will certainly help us identify the final movements of these individuals just before and after the offence took place.”
Police said that any of Martin’s associates who aided in his concealment might be prosecuted with accessory to murder, which carries a possible life sentence.
